Prices have started to come down lately for used C8 Corvettes overall, but be careful because sometimes you get what you pay for.

That particularly appears to be the case with these two Hypersonic Gray Corvettes we found this week listed on Copart. The catch is that these “bargain” Stingrays were flooding victims of the recent Hurricane Ian storm, so “let the buyer beware” was never more true.

Making matters worse, both of the cars are IMSA GTLM Championship Edition C8.R special edition 2022 coupes in Hypersonic Gray with abbreviated yellow striping. With these being equipped with the C8.R special edition package, they both have the top-of-the-line 3LTs, and surprisingly, they appear to be in decent shape exterior-wise, other than some bad water spotting on the rear glass and deck, but the big question is how much damage all that saltwater did to the sensitive electronic systems and the powertrain.

The Sky Cool Gray and Strike Yellow interior of one coupe that has red mirrors – serial number ending in N5101076 – looks especially rough in the photos.

We caught the high bid for one of the coupes (serial number ending in N5102240) which was at $25,000 before bidding closed Thursday morning. The other C8.R Edition (N51001076) will be sold in an upcoming lot, according to the Copart listing that says all of the cars are in Punta Gorda, Florida in case you are interested in an up-close inspection.

It’s always sad to see any Corvette damaged, but these special editions are some of just 1,000 C8.Rs produced for 2022. Now it appears that parting them out might be the only logical option for the new owners. What would you do?

You can see more Corvette offered at Copart’s Punta Gorda South Florida location at the link.

  1. Good thing I got my 2022 C8 HTC out of there in June, but unfortunately Ian totaled my Camaro. It only took a few days for mold to develop on the seats and the disc brakes were completely covered with rust

  2. Get decicant cans used on boats to dry out the interior. Consider using Di water to wash everything down. This will dilute the salt water. The enemy is the salt. Got to get the salt out. As it will draw water from the air.

If i was a young man would consider it for $5000. Other wise i won’t touch it with a 10 foot pole. There are so many electric motors switch’s connectors ect.

Hopefully some on has taken the battery completely out.

  3. Parting out is the only way to go.Water is your enemy with electronics of which the c8 is loaded with computers and any water especially salt water is certain death. The rest of the car’s mechanicals, engine, trans, body and possibly the interior parts. It is no longer a good driver
