[VIDEO] Matt Farah Talks About Driving the 2023 Corvette Z06 for Road and Track's PCOTY

In the latest episode of The Smoking Tire Podcast, Matt Farah spends some time talking about his experience in driving the 2023 Corvette Z06 both on the track and on the street as part of Road & Track’s Performance Car of the Year (PCOTY) tests.

Matt says he drove the Z06 over two days at Monticello, where the PCOTY track testing was done, and during that time, he got in around 25 laps with the car. R&T also has the car for another two days for street driving, and Matt says he spent around two hours street driving it, including some time with the roof panel out.

Matt is known for his “One Takes” where he spends time driving the car and discussing it, and during PCOTY he managed to film 10 “One Takes” in one day, including the Z06. We hope to be able to see that Z06 “One Take” shortly.

This is a long podcast, and Matt offers a preview at the beginning before getting into his driving impressions at 42:10 in the video. (The description on YouTube has links to jump to the various segments.)

Matt says the Z06 was the headliner for PCOTY, and we already have featured Travis Okulski’s report on the car. Matt says, “It took six years for GM to reverse-engineer a 458 Speciale and bring it to market.” “What they built feels like a Ferrari engine,” but don’t take that as a detriment. Matt says even the GM guy at the test joked that Ferrari built a great engine and then moved on from it to something else. “How do you not realize what you had,” said the engineer.

As for the Z06, “its power is exceptional, and it’s really f*ucking fast.” He talks about how it has a great mid-range punch and is different in that regard to the Porsche GT4RS (also at PCOTY) which he said had all its power at the top of the RPM range.

Matt talks about the Z06 for nearly 15 minutes so check it out at 42:10 in the podcast video:
