The list of speakers for a panel discussion reads like a veritable Who’s Who of past and present General Motors executives at the upcoming Historic Festival 40 being hosted by Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Connecticut.

The commemoration of the 70th anniversary of Corvette on Saturday, Sept. 3 will include a discussion called “Corvette Design: Past, Present … and a Hint of the Future,” focusing on the legendary sports car’s design concepts over the years.

Organizers say this “once-in-a-lifetime East Coast event” will include four well-known senior GM Design executives, including the current leader of GM Global Design, Michael Simcoe, and his predecessor, Ed Welburn, along with Executive Director of Global Chevrolet Design Phil Zak and his predecessor, John Cafaro, who was also Corvette Chief Designer from 1986-99.

The event will begin after the races on Sept. 3 in the Lime Rock Park infield at 6 p.m. Prior to a dinner that night, visitors will be able to see an extensive collection of rarely seen Corvette concepts and historic competitive cars on display at the track.

“Between looking back at the Corvette’s glorious past as well as gaining a rare glimpse into its future, this is a unique event not to be missed,” organizers say. Tickets for the event – which include the panel discussion, dinner, beer and wine – are $100 each, and seating is limited. To reserve a seat, visit limerock.com.
