The annual Corvette bender known as Corvettes on Woodward takes place next week all around the metro Detroit area. Each year the event draws hundreds of Corvette owners from all over the Midwest (and further) for a multi-day play date with like-minded enthusiasts while doing some good for the neighborhood. Corvettes on Woodward is like Spring Training before the world-famous Woodward Dream Cruise on Saturday, August 20th.

The 2022 edition of Corvettes on Woodward kicks off Wednesday, August 17 at 10am with a visit to one of our favorite places – the GM Heritage Center. For a $10 cash admission, you can peruse some of the most noteworthy cars in GM history. The rotating collection contains concept cars, race cars, and everything in between. If you’re a true GM fan, this is a bucket list place to visit. The GM Heritage Collection is located at 6400 Center Drive, Sterling Heights, Michigan.

After that, it’s over to the DoubleTree hotel located right on Woodward Avenue for Corvettes on Woodward’s main event – the annual cruise and food drive. The crowd can start gathering at 1pm. Donations of $10 plus nonperishable food items are collected for the Open Hands Food Pantry in Royal Oak. This portion of the agenda draws several hundred Corvettes each year as it’s a great opportunity to get together with fellow owners and give back to the community. The parking lot will slowly fill over the course of the day until 7pm when the police shut down 2 lanes of southbound Woodward for the group to cruise down to the food panty to drop off all the goodies. The 2 solid lanes of Corvettes on historic M1 is a site to behold each year. The DoubleTree hotel is located at 39475 Woodward Ave in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Food will be available for purchase and a karaoke DJ will provide the entertainment.

Get a good night’s sleep on Wednesday because Thursday, you’re promptly off to the Lingenfelter Collection at 10am. Ken Lingenfelter’s immense 200+ car collection is known worldwide and is not to be missed. It’s only open to fundraisers and charities so plan now to see the Corvettes, classics, Ferraris, Lambos, and more. While there, grab some Lingenfelter swag and check out some of their in-house modded rides. The Lingenfelter Collection is located at 7819 Lochlin Drive in Brighton, Michigan.

After you’re done at Lingenfelter, you’re off to Pratt & Miller – home of the C8.R race team. Not surprisingly, this spot is wildly popular among the Corvette brethren, and thusly, participants have their choice of 10am or 1pm tours to complement the time at Lingenfelter. Pratt Miller is about 10 minutes from Lingenfelter so it’s easy to hit both in the same day. In addition to Corvette Racing, Pratt Miller is also an engineering firm that provides services to the automotive and defense industries. To get your up close and personal look at Corvette racing, head over to 29600 William K Smith Dr in New Hudson, MI. Spots are limited so reach out to Larry Courtney at [email protected] to secure your place in line.

On Friday, you get to catch your breath or take a nap to recharge for the Woodward Dream Cruise on Saturday, August 20th. Or just head out and cruise along with a gazillion others who’ll already be rolling down Woodward one day prior to the big event.
