We’ve heard some rumors that the Corvette engineering team may be back in Germany for some high-speed testing on the Nurburgring, and that confirmation came this afternoon thanks to Carbuzz who confirms at least three E-Ray prototypes may be on site.

The E-Ray is expected as a 2024 model that could be available as soon as next year, according to GM President Mark Reuss, who spilled the beans about the E-Ray on CNBC earlier this year in April. Here are those comments again:

Yes, in addition to the amazing new Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and other gas-powered variants coming, we will offer an electrified and a fully electric, Ultium-based Corvette in the future. In fact, we will offer an electrified Corvette as early as next year. Details and names to come at a later date.

Looking at the Carbuzz photos, GM is wrapping these cars in the vinyl camo and we note that the rear engine hatch has been covered as well. These are widebodies and this might also be the first confirmation that the E-Ray will be available with the Carbon Fiber wheels. Well, that makes some sense from a fuel economy standpoint, but we’re probably not ordering these cars for the fuel economy.

We also can point out that the spoiler on this car is very, very similar to the Z06’s accessory visible carbon fiber spoiler that’s on the visualizer.

Spy photos going back to September 2021 captured the Regen On Demand button on the side of the Corvette’s center console. If its like the Bolt, the Regen on Demand allows the regenerative brake system to capture the energy produced when braking and it uses that energy to charge the E-Rays batteries. Regen On Demand is also known as “one-pedal driving” as it allows the driver to brake without using the brake pedal as it’s engaged whenever the accelerator pedal is released.

Stay tuned this week for more of the Corvette Team at the Nurburgring.

  1. It is way past time for some performance numbers on the Z06, and they had better be good or the hype/pricing of this car may have already overstayed its welcome.

  2. Already has. Government planners want to push inhabitants to electric cars, that is if they can afford them.
