[VIDEO] Attempted Carjacking of a C7 Corvette Convertible Caught on Surveillance Video

These days, you may feel like you’re being robbed at the gas pump every time you fill up.

But the driver of this Arctic White C7 Corvette convertible was actually the victim of an attempted carjacking at a gas station in Houston, Texas by two masked men in broad daylight Wednesday.

The whole incident was captured by surveillance cameras at the station, where two masked men – at least one armed with a long gun – are shown exiting a black 2010-15 Camaro parked behind a UPS truck and quickly walking across the parking lot, with one of the men tapping on the driver’s side window of the Corvette and then trying to open the door.

Another female customer who happened to be parked behind the Corvette pumping her own gas in a white SUV turns her head to watch as she moves to the front of her vehicle. The door of the Corvette then opens partially before the driver has the wherewithal to peel out of the parking lot as the gunman fires two shots at her car. The two men then run to their own car.

“All my customers are my priority, and I want them to be safe and I shouldn’t have to worry about them being safe at 1:30 in the afternoon,” the manager of the Shell station on Aldine Westfield Road and Farrell Road said. She talked to ABC 13 Eyewitness News reporter Shelley Childers, asking not to be identified for her own protection, and said she wants the public to know gun violence like this cannot be normalized.

Houston Police are seeking the public’s help in solving the crime and are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest of the two suspects. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 713-222-TIPS.

  1. I was in Houston in early March and they tried to steal my truck out of the motel parking lot in broad day light. Had to hang around for a week while the dealer fixed [$3500 damage] my truck and I noticed about all business’s had a fence around them with security guards in the parking lots. I would hate to live that way. Give me a small town any day. Maybe not completely safe, but better than looking over your shoulder every minute.

  2. The give criminals a break attitude of California, Oregon and Washington has infected the whole country. Here in LA, you can steal a car everyday and not go to jail. Oh, and the DA has dropped any enhancement for using a gun.

  3. it won’t be fire in only one direction…call it the green laser virus, one asshole dispatched….over

  4. Even my C7 isn’t worth dying for, but in that situation I’d sure try to blast them if I could.
Key fob always in my pocket at gas station. Always looking around, gas up and go.

  5. I live in (north) Texas and I carry, but I don’t know what I’d have done in this situation. I usually carrying on my belt even while driving, but it would have been easy to end up dead here.
Even assuming I could get the drop on him due to tinted windows, I doubt shots from my pistol would have stopped the rifle guy from firing back into the driver’s window at point blank range.
Feigning compliance and waiting for him to start getting into the car could have given opportunity to either attempt a two-handed disarm or to draw my pistol and fire once he was getting in the car.
But all of that does not take his accomplice into account.
Overall, driving away like the target did may have been the best choice for keeping the car. Criminals like this are notoriously bad shots.
While it’s just a car this would probably set my blood boiling instantly and I doubt I would have just given my C7 to them, either, without resistance, just on principal alone.
