With the end of production of the front-engine era of Corvettes, many believe the market for C6s and C7s on the used market, especially those with higher-performance engines, will remain strong for years.
That theory certainly appears to be supported by this 2013 Corvette 427 convertible, so fitted with that moniker because of its monstrous engine and currently up for sale on Bring a Trailer.
With six days left in the auction, the high bid has already soared to $60,000 for this 427, among the few created by Chevy to send the sixth generation out with a bang. Since the Z06 was coupe-only for structural reasons, the 427 convertible was created as an homage to the big-blocks of earlier generations.
For what our opinion is worth, we believe this color combination is one of, if not the best to grace a C6 convertible – Cyber Gray Metallic paint with black interior and a gray soft top.
It’s what is underneath the hood, however, that likely has ignited such intense interest in this car. After all, it’s one of just 2,552 convertibles that left Bowling Green with the same 7.0-liter LS7 V8 engine that was also in the Z06 coupe, the one that features a dry-sump lubrication system and was factory rated at 505 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque.
Furthermore, that power is transferred through a six-speed manual transmission obviously no longer available in a new Corvette.
This one remains in practically new condition as it has been driven just 527 miles over the past 11 years.
Other much-appreciated features on this last-year-of-the-C6-generation convertible include carbon-fiber hood and fenders, Machined-Finish 19″ & 20″ Cup Wheels, and Magnetic Selective Ride Control.
The black leather interior is outfitted with heated seats, power-adjustable driver’s seat, dual-zone climate control, and Bose sound system.
The new owner will also get manufacturer’s literature, battery maintainer, and a car cover.
Naturally with such low mileage, the car also has a clean Carfax report.

I wish there was a red convertible like the C6 with an automatic because everything I have had was a stick and that has been a lot. But earlier years when my first one was a 1974 and never stopped through 2019 but some of my cars were automatics unless a special edition limited or when the Z06 came out and the ZR1‘S all mine have been sticks since then and went through all the models plus several of them but always a Z06. But now I can’t even buy a new one talking to GM twice and my dealer that last ordered my ZR1 7 speed. What is going on? I have been corvette lady and had so many corvettes but left out pdf he new C8 Z06 when I decided I wanted an automatic for the first time since 2000.
We had 67’s and 71.
