[PICS] The Under Hood Art from Corvette Expo

Welcome back to our coverage of the 45th annual Corvette Expo held last week in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. So far we’ve looked at some great C2’s on Midyear Monday and then checked out the entire event in our show wrap up. Now it’s time to move on to something a little different.

When it comes to personalizing or customizing their Corvette, there’s virtually no corner that can go untouched. One of the first things we noticed while wandering the show last Friday was the abundance of under hood art throughout the show floor. Of course, we’ve seen various designs on the inside of Corvette hoods before, but this time it seemed like almost every car on the floor had some added bling on the backside of their bonnets. That calls for a gallery!

As we browsed the raised hoods throughout the show, we noticed a few recurring themes. First off was good old ‘Murica with some cars sporting Old Glory, the Statue of Liberty, and a Bald Eagle. It is America’s sportscar after all.

Next was racing. Since the Corvette emblem features a checkered flag and the brand has a significant racing history, this is just a natural connection. Thus, several cars showed off creative variations of the checked flag theme. Sometimes the traditional white was replaced neatly with the car’s exterior color. Naturally, Jake made an appearance as well.

We’ll call the last theme fantasy. Here we spied multiple examples of fire, skeletons, and the grim reaper. We’d be completely remiss if we didn’t mention Batman too.

Finally, we’ll give an honorable mention to the various Corvette models. Examples here included a seldom-seen Centennial Edition, several Z06’s, and a pair of Carbon 65’s.

As you can see in our exquisite gallery below, the under hood art at Corvette Expo was just as unique as the Corvettes and their owners. Just like crafting a custom car, there’s no limit to what can be dreamed up and done to jazz up something as mundane as the underside of a hood.
