Spare a Minute and Check out these C2-Inspired Louis Chevrolet Swiss Watches on Kickstarter

Born in Switzerland to a famous watchmaker, Louis Chevrolet first fixed and raced bicycles before graduating to automobiles. His exploits would lead him to Paris and then New York City where he broke the world speed record in 1905 and became known for his driving abilities and “Never Give Up” attitude. His legend was cemented in racing history as his Frontenac brand race car won the Indianapolis 500 in 1920 with his brother Gaston behind the wheel.

Today that winning spirit is carried on by another Swiss watchmaker who has taken the name of Louis Chevrolet Swiss Watches and now creates these beautiful automotive-inspired timepieces in his name. The new 2022 Speedway LC17 model is inspired by the 1963-1967 Corvette and offers an innovative fast strap changing concept: Change the look of your watch by changing the straps and doing it in under 10 seconds without tools.

The Speedway LC17 offers a satin-finished and polished 316L stainless steel case with six color choices that are reminiscent of the colors found on the C2 Sting Rays: Silver, Blue, Black, Brown, Green, and Anthracite (Gray). The face of the watch is bezeled and the large mirrored numerals and indices remind us of a classic Corvette dash gauge. Luminous hands make it easy to read and the second-hand offers a swatch of red for quick visual reference. Think of the center design of the watch as asphalt and then you’ll see the racetrack design where the numbers are. The crown of the watch is engraved with Louis’ lucky No.8 while a plaque reading “Never Give Up” is affixed to the other side.

It’s the patented strap changing concept which helps transform the look of your Speedway LC17, just as a custom set of wheels would do for a Corvette. Each watch is nicely packaged with three different straps which include leather, silicone emblazoned with the No.8, and a stainless steel Milanese mesh strap for more formal occasions.

Turning the watch over, the C2 design elements are on display in the form of the C2’s knock-off wheel designs with a spinner and No.8 again in the center.

Just like manual stick shifts are waning, so has the need to wind up your watch or change a battery to keep perfect time. The Speedway LC17 comes with their new automatic movement which recharges itself throughout the day when the watch is worn and it has a power reserve of 40 hours when it’s not. For you watch nerds out there, it’s called the LC3H.D.A (3 Hands Date Automatic) and the movement combines both precision and endurance, thanks to its 25 jewels which limit friction within the movement, and its 28,800 oscillations per hour. It’s also water-resistant to 50 meters / 165 feet.
