The long, long wait Down Under for the new C8 Corvette is finally nearing an end.
According to Torquecafe, a new mid-engine Stingray will finally touch down in Australia this weekend during the Supercars Super Sprint at The Bend.
GM Specialty Vehicles – slated to begin selling the new Corvette later this year – hasn’t made any official statement about the upcoming activities, but speedcafe.com believes a Stingray will go around the track for a demonstration run this weekend.
The new Corvettes will feature right-hand drive from the Bowling Green factory for the first time, but speedcafe.com reports that the example at The Bend will be a regular U.S. model in left-hand drive.
When it hits the market, the new mid-engine Chevy will be a 2022 model, starting at $144,990 AUD for the 2LT trim.
Speedcafe.com says: “The new model year is expected to bring a range of updates, which is why GM Specialty Vehicles hasn’t released detailed technical specifications, beyond stating all models will be powered by a 6.2-litre V8 and come with the Z51 Performance Package as standard.”
