A 1957 Corvette convertible with super rare options is on the docket for the upcoming Lakeland Winter Auction being run by Carlisle Auctions at the Sun ‘n Fun Expo Campus in Lakeland, Florida this weekend.

Vette Dreams in West Babylon, New York completed a frame-off restoration in 2018 of this factory correct Arctic Blue Corvette with Venetian Red coves, one of four such cars known to exist. In fact, the Corvette Black Book doesn’t even list that color combo as a possibility, with the usual pairing being Arctic Blue with Silver coves, according to Mike Antonick’s book. The two-tone paint job, by the way, cost just $19.40 extra back in the day, an option checked off by 2,794 customers.

Even more rare is the fact that it is the only ’57 with a power top bonnet delete.

It’s powered by the correct 283/245 horsepower dual four-barrel V8 engine, a $150.65 option chosen by 2,045 of the 6,339 customers that year. It also has the correct date coded intake and carburetor and includes a rare Posi-traction 3.70 rear end (327 sold for $48.45 extra).

Not quite as rare, but still notable, is that the car is one of just 379 ordered with power windows (a $59.20 option) and one of just 1,336 with a power soft top ($139.90).

Other unusual options include the two-speed Power Glide automatic transmission (1,393 sold at $188.30 extra), auxiliary hardtop (4,055 at $215.20), AM radio (3,635 at $199.10 extra), courtesy lights (2,489 for $8.65), and windshield washers (2,555 for $11.85).

  1. It is my understanding (I could be wrong), that there is no way to verify the original color of a C1 Corvette. Maybe there is a original bill of sale indicting the color combo.
