[PICS] Zeus Bronze 2020 Corvette with Forgeline's AL301 in Hampton Gold

Zeus Bronze is a niche color on the new C8 Corvette Stingray and the latest statistics have the color at only about 3% penetration on 2020 models. One of the accessory wheels offered by Chevrolet appears to be ready-made for the metallic brown exterior, the Pewter-finished Open Spoke Wheels. But the extra price of $2,695 for them has owners considering other options.

In our quest to bring you different looks at custom wheels on the new mid-engine C8 Corvette, this week’s #WheelWednesday takes a closer look at Forgeline’s three-piece forged AL301s.

Forgeline’s AL301 is a precision-forged wheel featuring a racing-inspired Y-spoke design with tapered spokes that reach out to the edge of the aluminum outer shell. The three-piece modular wheels are made to order and are fully customizable in both fitment and finish.

The AL301’s on this C8 Corvette utilize a staggered setup with 20x9s on the front and 21x12s on the rear and are wrapped in Michelin’s Pilot Sport 4S tires in sizes 255/30R20 and 325/25R21 respectively. Forgeline allows customization of both the spokes and the outer rim, and in this case, the owner chose Hampton Gold with a Polished outer rim shell. Following installation, the car was lowered on its factory coil-overs.

One of new design terms we’ve picked up on recently is how colors “travel”, which is to say that when looking at Zeus Bronze, you will see parts of the car that are lighter or darker than others. That’s the “travel” of the Zeus Bronze exterior. In the photos below (use the arrows on the post to cycle through the images) you will see how the Hampton Gold wheels appear to exactly match some of the lighter sections of the car as if they were made for each other.

As the wheels are custom made to order, they will cost significantly more than Chevrolet’s accessory wheels. We played a bit with the Forgeline configurator and came up with a quote just north of $7,000 for a similar set of four.

  1. Not my price range, but beautiful in this application. Betting that black/red wheel would look great with the new Red Mist Metallic also! 🙂

  2. My question is whether Chevrolet is going to stand behind these wheels. They are now involved in a class action law suit brought by C7 owners regarding wheel problems.

  3. That would have been my spec to the T but I figured they were going to have some issues with this “new car”, I’m waiting for the Z06.
