We here at CorvetteBlogger are very excited to be part of the 2020 Corvette Dream Giveaway – a tax-deductible fundraiser that helps a number of charities in the USA while also offering one lucky winner the keys to two Corvettes plus a check to pay the taxes. It really is a Dream Giveaway!
Over the last decade, we’ve seen a number of Dream Giveaways featuring new Corvettes paired with a classic counterpart, but I can’t remember this much enthusiasm over this year’s grand prize. For as little as $3 per ticket, someone will have their number drawn to win a new 2020 Corvette Stingray Z51 Coupe, a 1962 Corvette Restomod Roadster, and a check for $45,000 to pay the taxes.
As the winner of this fabulous prize package, you will be invited to a special award ceremony in early 2021 in Clearwater, Florida. There, you will meet some of the representatives behind the Dream Giveaway charities and automotive celebrities including Ken Lingenfelter. With cameras rolling and streaming the action to the internet, you will be handed the keys and check, and then both cars are started and revved, with a crowd of Corvette club members cheering you on.
Check out these two great Corvettes offered and then get your bonus tickets below!
2020 Corvette Stingray Z51 Coupe
The mid-engine 2020 Corvette Stingray has been years in the making and is undisputed as the most important and exciting update in Corvette’s 68-year history! After winning the hearts and minds of the automotive world, the new 2020 Corvette was named the North American Car of the Year and received the coveted title of MotorTrend’s Car of the Year.
The 2020s are in hot demand with orders for the model year sold out months ago. The Corvette Dream Giveaway’s 2020 Corvette Stingray comes from our friends at Les Stanford and it’s wearing a VIN sequence number #729. The Torch Red Stingray was ordered early and almost every major option was ticked on the form as you will see. Highlights include a 3LT trim package, the Z51 Performance Package, Magnetic Ride Control, the Visible Carbon Fiber Dual Roof Package, Black Trident Wheels, as well as the now-constrained options Visible Carbon Fiber Aero Package and the Carbon Flash-painted High Wing. When you add those to all of the other options selected, this 2020 Corvette Stingray has an MSRP of $95,260.00!
I had the opportunity to drive this new Corvette late last month and the car continues to live up to the hype. As we are in Florida, we took the opportunity to remove the visible carbon fiber roof and dropped it into the rear storage area before taking a drive to a local park about 15 minutes away from the Dream Garage HQ. All the while you would see people point at the car as we drove by and we even picked up a guy who followed us for a bit. People are drawn to the car and even while we were in the Park, a couple of “walkers” stopped by to admire the car.
During our drive, you can definitely feel the power of the LT2 behind you. The Stingray’s newest powerplant offers 495 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque and with the Tremec Dual Clutch Transmission, the paddle shifters are fun to use. And seriously, there is no sound that is more beautiful to me that that burble that comes from the Corvette’s NPP exhaust as you downshift when coming up to a stoplight.
Experts agree…the 2020 Corvette Stingray is a masterpiece. But this is the Dream Giveaway we are talking about, so the fun doesn’t stop there.
1962 Corvette LS3 Restomod
For those of you who like their Corvettes on the classic side, the Dream Giveaway offers this outstanding 1962 Corvette roadster featuring the classic looks of the first Corvettes with all the modern amenities that you find on new cars. The amount of workmanship in making this car is apparent at first look, and when you start up the Corvette, you will see that no expenses were spared in this build.
Powering the Corvette roadster is an upgraded Chevy LS3 V8 engine covered in polished stainless steel that is viewable through a ZR1-like window on the hood. For a better look, press the button on the key fob and watch the hood raise automatically to reveal the Holley Sniper EFI unit on top of the C6 Corvette motor. The engine is coupled to an electronic four-speed transmission with power transferred through the Art Morrison chassis with a coil-over suspension to a 9-inch Ford rear-end with the exhaust exiting from a Magnaflow dual exhaust, all of which is meticulously detailed.
The interior of the Salsa Red 1962 Corvette is just as gorgeous as the rest of the car with dipped Italian leather that wraps its occupants in its warm and comfortable embrace. Modern amenities including air conditioning and a push-button Corvette radio with Bluetooth makes this a fun classic to drive. Stainless steel is used throughout the cabin, surround the white-faced gauges as well as used for the brake and accelerator pedals, while period correct knobs highlights the car’s past. A retro-styled gear shifter looks right at home in the car as does the modern style D-shaped steering wheel that has the added benefit of helping larger drivers to easily enter and exit the vehicle.
We drove this red-hot Corvette a few months back and for those of you who have never driven a classic 1962 Corvette, they are as different to the modern cars as can be. Small, lightweight, and nimble, driving the car is a blast! With the open-air cockpit, there is nothing to block to the sound of the exhaust note as you push that accelerator to the floor.
The curb appeal of this custom 1962 Corvette really sets it apart from other restomods. We particularly like the use of the dual modern-day LED headlights combined with classic C1 grille with the chrome teeth. Another is the chrome American Racing wheels that pay homage to Corvette wheels of the past with a design featuring elements of the rally wheel and hubcap spinners. Nothing says America like the Corvette and so the builder included custom C6 logos with American Flags which adorn the front of the car.
Who You Are Helping
Sponsored by our friends at Corvette Central, the 2020 Corvette Dream Giveaway is a tax-deductible fundraiser with proceeds going to a number of well-known charities across the USA with the main beneficiary being the New Beginning Children’s Homes, a 501(c)(3) organization which provides family-focused living accommodations for abused, neglected or orphaned children. The Corvette Dream Giveaway also supports a number of well-known and respected charities including Honor Flight of West Central Florida, the National Guard Education Foundation, Smile Network International, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries, 4Kids, and Bright Pink.
Over the last four years, we have met the winners of the Corvette Dream Giveaway at the annual awards ceremony. The cars are real, the check for $45,000 is real and the smiles from the winners as they take both sets of keys are real. We would love to see you in Clearwater, Florida in 2021 as you take home these two great Corvettes along with a check for $45,000 to pay the taxes.
