[VIDEO] Corvette C8.R Start Up and Testing at Daytona

I’m really looking forward to seeing the new Corvette C8.Rs at Daytona on Saturday, but in the meantime, here’s a great video from Friday’s testing session showing the two new mid-engine Corvette race cars in action.

  1. If I was just going by the sound, and not seeing which car was going by, I would never know that was a Corvette. I miss the deep bellowing V-8 sound… the “import” sound just doesn’t do it for me

  2. Its the acoustic nature of a flat plane crank; the exhaust shock waves are converging in sequence in the pipes in a nice flow, not “bumping” into each other, as is the case with a cross plane crank.

I’ll miss the throaty sound of the old cross plane plant, but this is simply the best step forward for the small block…this solution gives better top end power, which is what we need to compete with Porsche and Ferrari!!

  3. new car new sound great look-n forward to rolex 24 nice work vette GM crew also cars look good in corners & high banks

  4. I totally agree with Jeff, the great sound has gone. I thought they had some specialist to “guard” the V-8 sound? Apparently his “vote” has been overrun in the development proces. I like the Lexus sound better now.

  5. A friend recently told me he talked with a BG employee who said there is a problem with the rear axle material when excessive torque is applied. Have you heard anything? Thanks
