Ready to make a move to your new house?

Who needs that moving truck anyway?

Just use your “Lightning McQueen” C7 Corvette coupe to do the job.

That’s what a guy named dropout_c7 did. Check out this Instagram video that the guy posted as he was transporting a couch – yes, a full-size couch – on the top of his Corvette, roof panel removed.

We’re not told exactly how he managed to accomplish this feat, though apparently the couch wasn’t strapped into place and was just balancing there. Amazingly, the couch didn’t seem to wobble any as the car rolled down the highway, but we’d still be afraid to try this stunt for very long. A good gust of wind, and, well, you get the picture.

Apparently, though, this kind of risk doesn’t bother dropout_c7 as he is said to use his Corvette for a lot of other weird stuff that he posts on social media, but this maneuver surely has to rank among the weirdest.

Just think, with all the storage room behind the seats under the hatchback, you really could make a dent with a Corvette should you ever decide to move. In fact, maybe some enterprising owner might even want to start a business called Two Men and a C7.

It makes for an interesting video, but would you try this with your pride and joy? We once managed to stuff around < AHREF="https://www.corvetteblogger.com/2012/02/05/just-how-much-cargo-can-a-c6-convertible-corvette-carry/">$300 worth of groceries in our C7 convertible trunk, passenger floorboard, and seat, but we’d definitely think long and hard about carrying a couch on the roof. We’re just way too protective of the paint job.

  1. I thought the jacked-up C3 Corvette body on a 4 wheel drive chassis that haunts our area was bad.
So if this is how he hauls furniture, does he take a U-Haul truck to the track?

  2. THIS BEATS THE SIDE TO SIDE TOOLBOX THATS USUALLY SEEN IN PICK-UP TRUCKS THAT I SAW STRAPPED TO THE LUGGAGE RACK ON A C-2 ROADSTER, THAT ONE MADE ME SMFH, THIS CAPER MAKES ME SAY AYFKM ?

  3. Maybe he and his girlfriend are on their way to a drive in movie. He might have a blanket in back of the seats in case it gets cold at night. If he tries to strap a bed on top, the girlfriends parents might draw a line at letting her out of the house with this innovator.

  4. Wow. Pretty sure that’s illegal, in the Corvette world at least. Think I would have paid the $25 to rent a U-Haul. Or bribed a friend.

  5. Do they even make a class 3 trailer hitch for a C7, they do now. You just gave GM Union workers a reason to go back to work…. She thinks her you know what is made of gold. I’m with you kid, I would go on strike too…… I’m with you bro… ?

  6. Isn’t there a redneck or hill Billy sighting page where these types of photos are posted? All rednecks and hill Billy’s have friends and family with trucks……come on Jed!
So the old folks said, “Jed move away from there!” So he loaded up his Lighting McQueen Vet with a couch and moved to Beverly….Hills that is. Doubt it!
