[VIDEO] Lone C8 Mid-Engine Corvette on the Road in California

At the end of the week, we shared a couple photos that appeared on Motor Trend featuring a single C8 Mid-Engine Corvette prototype driving along the roads in central California. Motor Trend says the car was running the same roads that the magazine uses for its Car of the Year testing.

A member on the Corvette Forum named “Corvette_Nut” who is the likely source of these photos had posted the same image without the MT watermark on the Forum and late Friday night he followed up with a quick video showing him trailing the C8 Corvette as it makes its way through a light rain.

“Corvette_Nut” had posted the original images with the caption “If You Happen To Be Out And About In The Willow Springs Area, Keep An Eye Out…..” and then later with the video he says “There’s nothing to see here…”:

Even f there is nothing to see, it’s enough for us seeing the cars to be glad that the C8 Corvettes are back on the road following an extended hiatus from testing.

Some are wondering why the car is being shown wearing the heavy black cadding while recent photos and video from Detroit show the car without the black camo. I don’t really have a definitive answer, but my guess is that the Detroit pictures were meant to get Corvette enthusiasts talking about the car again and therefore the C8s were stripped down to make sure everyone got a good look. For the rest of the ME fleet, I bet we see the black camo on the cars until the reveal, whenever that may be.
