Once again, the Delaware Valley Chapter of the NCRS hosted the NCRS Gallery at Corvettes at Carlisle. The gallery showcases each of their judging and other awards classes using Corvettes that have attained each of the given awards. The cars are hand selected only after owners submit their cars to be displayed.
The National Corvette Restorers Society (NCRS) is a group of enthusiasts that encourages the restoration and preservation of Corvettes in their as-new condition. The key is replicating or preserving how the car was first built. Each car starts with 4,500 total points across 5 sections: Chassis, Mechanical (engine), Interior, Exterior, and Operations. Deductions of various values are taken depending on the given component deviates from the original condition. At the end of the day, cars scoring 94% or higher receive the coveted Top Flight Award. Onward from there, cars can achieve Performance Verification, Duntov, Star/Bowtie (solely for unrestored cars), and any of several other awards depending on how far owners decide to go. You can read more about the NCRS, its scoring system and various awards on the NCRS website. Currently, the NCRS judges 1953-1999 Corvettes for factory originality. They are also doing a test drive of a Concourse judging class for modified Corvettes and demonstrated that on Friday at Carlisle.
Car Owners, as well as NCRS members and judges inside the Gallery tent, were available all weekend to answer questions about the NCRS, the judging process, awards, or the cars themselves. Attendees also had the opportunity to thumb through the current NCRS judging guides that were available on tables at either end of the tent. The Gallery also hosted a raffle supporting the Chip Miller Amyloidosis Fund. Sunday morning the owners of the honored Corvettes received commemorative plaques from members of the Carlisle Events team before loading up and heading back home.
The NCRS Gallery at Corvettes at Carlisle is always a great collection to take in. The diverse grouping of cars and the shade make it a must see during the event weekend. Congratulations to all this year’s honorees and enjoy our gallery below.
