[ACCIDENT] 74-Year-Old Drivers Collide in Sarasota Corvette Crash

A 74-year-old man driving a Corvette suffered critical injuries in a crash in his black C5 convertible Tuesday afternoon in Sarasota, Florida.

The Florida Highway Patrol said Ronald L. Enger of Osprey, Florida was stopped on Rivendell Boulevard at Old Venice Road when he drove forward into the path of a Toyota Tundra headed north on Old Venice Road.

Ironically, the Toyota, which struck the passenger side of the Corvette, was being driven by another 74-year-old man, John Robert Steverson, of Sarasota.

Rescue crews carried Enger to Sarasota Memorial Hospital to be treated for critical injuries. Reports did not say if he was wearing a seatbelt.

Authorities said Steverson, meanwhile, was wearing his seatbelt and was treated for minor injuries at the same hospital.
