January is now upon us which means we turn our attention to the myriad of auctions occurring this month in Florida and Arizona. Over the next few weeks, several thousand collector cars will cross various auction blocks looking for new homes. Below we’ve summarized the major sales and highlighted a few of the significant Corvettes up grabs at each one.
By our count there are 7 big auctions taking place in January. Obviously, Mecum Kissimmee and Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale are the big kids on the block, but Russo and Steele, RM Sotheby’s, Worldwide, Silver, and Gooding and Company are all also hosting sales next month.
A total of 455 Corvettes are consigned as we pen this article. As you’d expect, every generation is covered from unrestored originals to immaculately restored examples to all-out racecars. Whatever you’re looking for, it’ll be offered in January.
The majority of the cars are running through Mecum and Barrett-Jackson with each offering 264 and 149 respectively. Our research revealed two more 1953’s for sale in addition to the five we told you about a couple weeks ago as Worldwide and Silver are each also offering first-year examples.
Mecum will be featuring a trio of 1963 Z06’s, an L88 convertible, and a throng of C2 big blocks. Barrett-Jackson will be offering the new 2019 ZR1 VIN #1, the first 2018 Carbon 65 edition, a 1958 Centurion, the 1965 cutaway display, and a 1968 L88 coupe. Over at Russo and Steele you find a rare Cheetah, a black 2009 GT1 edition coupe, a 1965 fuelie convertible, and a red/red 1967 427/435 convertible. A cool red 1959 restomod and 1953 VIN #183 highlight the Silver Auctions Arizona sale. Worldwide Auctions showcases 5 early Corvettes including 1953 VIN #201 and a rare 1957 in Aztec Copper. You’ll find a 1967 327/350 convertible at Gooding and Company, and 1953 VIN #184 at RM Sotheby’s.
