An enthusiast who’s owned many Corvettes ranks this 1986 Malcolm Konner edition he’s currently trying to sell right “up there with them all in driving pleasure” and says it still “gets looks everywhere she goes.”
For the uninitiated, the Malcolm Konner edition was a series of just 50 1986 Corvettes that were produced by Chevrolet to honor one of its largest Corvette dealers and a long-time friend of General Motors.
Basically a dress-up kit with two-tone silver beige over black paint, with a glass roof, this particular 1986 Malcolm Konner edition is one of just 10 that also included the Z51 sport suspension with larger diameter sway bars, stiffer suspension, Bilstein yellow performance shocks, larger rear tires, and transmission oil cooler. The seller notes that even fewer of them had the 3.07:1 gear ratio which he says “beats the pants off the line compared to the regular 2.73.”
“I have driven many C4s and this one pulls like a tractor off the line,” he boasts. “That rear gear performance option makes a huge difference off the line and it still cruises well at highway speeds. The car really scoots.”
This particular car is up for sale right now on eBay at the Buy It Now price of $17,900, but you better hurry as the seller claims this is the last time it will be offered on eBay before it’s taken to Barrett-Jackson to be auctioned off.
The new owner will get a C4 Corvette that has covered just 18,000 miles over the past 31 years.
“This rare MK C4 is a true time capsule,” according to the seller, “and in mint condition. You can eat off the engine, the interior and the exterior is even cleaner. Like I said smells new inside, not cancer sticks and you won’t find one for the money like this one.”
The car has four brand new tires, he says, and the wheels have no curbing or damage and are “like new.”
The new owner will get lots of documentation, too, including the owner’s manual, books, records, build sheets, window sticker, dealer brochure from Konner Corvette, Konner sales invoice, GM cassette, Corvette magazine with MK article, and more.
“How many Konner Corvettes survived the last 3 decades and are still in existence?” the seller wonders in his ad. “How many are in disarray and need repair, restoration, etc.? This is your opportunity to own one of the best C4 examples anywhere for the lowest price.”
The car is “a great conversation piece,” the seller says, “and needs to be on display. Sitting in my garage under a car cover is not what this car deserves so it’s my hope that a buyer will put this on display in their collection.”

Wow what a beautiful corvette.
That Dana 36 3:07 gearing is a huge improvement for hooking tires from that standard 2.73. I think though all Z51 cars brought the D36 but could be wrong. In any event it handles 450hp so this thing has a long way to go. It’s not even broke in yet.I love the C4 vettes and as an owner of a C5 and C6 the LS engines are very powerful and nice but that raw brute torque power feeling is missing that the L98 C4 offered. This Konner car is a sharp edition and I’ve seen this car in person at the local car shows it always gathering crowds and it very cherry,GLWS.
