[PICS] Ottawa Senators Goalie Craig Anderson Shows Love of Corvettes with New Mask

We first told you about Ottawa Senators goalie Craig Anderson five years ago when he took part in the Ron Fellows Performance Driving School at Spring Mountain.

The long-time enthusiast, whose dad Richard Anderson is a member of the National Corvette Museum board, has owned Corvettes since he was 18, and his love for America’s Sports Car is even evident when he takes the ice.

With a new hockey season opening, Craig decided it was time for a new look for his all-important mask.

He commissioned Sylvie Marsolais of Sylabrush to do the job, with few requests.

“Craig is a huge Corvette fan,” Marsolais told InGoal. “As you can see on his previous mask(s), the Corvette is always on there! His demands were real simple: go similar (to) last year, but with the new Corvette model. Then we suggested to put the C7R model – which has a more racing feel to it and has a meaner look.”

The result is a very nice looking mask, with the front view of a red C7R model on one side and a rear view of the same car on the other side.

His nickname, Andy, is at the top of the backplate, with Corvette Racing mascot Jake taking up most of the room back there, symbolizing his favorite car as well as the eyes that many goalies like on the back of their masks.

The smoke from the exhaust completes the scene as it makes its way through the images of the car, the front of the mask, and the backplate.

Being a Southern boy through and through, we don’t know much about hockey, but we do know a good thing when we see Craig’s mask. If he loves Corvettes like we do, maybe we should return the favor and learn more about his sport.
