[VIDEO] Watch the Final Minutes from Road America as Corvette Racing Goes from 5th to 1st in GTLM

Sunday’s win at Road America by Corvette Racing was an incredible example of the team’s motto “Never Give Up”. The No. 4 Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs seemed to struggle with the pace but they continued to make adjustments throughout the race. On the team’s last stop with 51 minutes remaining, Engineer Chuck Houghton made a final adjustment on the car which really seemed to bring new life to the GTLM Championship leaders.

Following that adjustment, Milner gained another position from 6th to 5th. With 13 minutes left in the race, a short yellow came out after a Prototype went into a tire wall. The full course caution reeled every one back together. The field was reset and the Green flag waved with five minutes to go. And that’s where the video replay starts:

Although we didn’t know it at the time, the class leading No. 67 Ford GT lost a turbo on that restart which explains why Richard Westbrook was struggling to keep the lead with just minutes remaining.

Ford, Corvette and the BMW were running nose to tail with 30 seconds left in the race as they crossed the Start Finish link on the final lap. Once again, the cars started to bunch up behind Westbrook’s Ford GT. It looked the BMW was going to swing right for the pass but thought better of it. A few seconds later, Tommy Milner did just that and was able to get past the Ford GT for the team’s 101st win.

Following the checkered flag, driver Tommy Milner would say it was one of the best race cars he’s ever driven.

Corvette Racing…Never Give Up.
