We not sure what it was that made us take a closer look at this 1960 Corvette that will be sold next month in Europe. After all, how many of you plan to be in Monte-Carlo on May 14th for the RM Sotheby’s Monaco auction? But the closer we looked, the more we liked the thought of driving this little roadster on the narrow streets and historic cities of Europe.
As an added bonus, the beautiful photography of this 1960 Corvette in classic Ermine White with Red interior and white wall tires with scenes of Monaco serving as the backdrop is all the reason we need to share the details of this American automotive icon.
The catalog description is somewhat short but mentions how 1960 was a pivotal year for the car. Not only did the 1960 Corvette break 10,000 in sales for the first time, the car also won its class and finished 8th overall at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
This particular 1960 roadster is powered by Chevy’s 283 V8 which made 245 horsepower and is coupled with a 4-speed manual transmission. We’re sure the sound of the V8 emanating from the Classic Corvette will turn heads wherever it was driven.
The interior is finished in Red Leather and options include a wonderbar radio and a white convertible top. The White over Red may be the most popular combination of colors offered in 1960, but they are all rare in Monte-Carlo.
The 1960 Corvette is Lot #233 and will be offered without reserve at RM Southeby’s Monaco auction at Le Sporting Monte-Carlo on Saturday, May 14th. The estimated sales price is €60.000 – €90.000 ($67,700 – $101,600 USD)
