Supporters of Joe Biden are urging the Vice President to enter the Presidential election sweepstakes for 2016 and to rev up support, they are launching a petition drive featuring a stylized “Hope” logo featuring the Vice President behind the wheel of a Corvette Stingray.

The original image comes from Biden’s cameo video with HBO’s VEEP star and Seinfeld alum Julia Louis-Dreyfus at the 2014 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner.

Biden is a long-time Corvette owner who has a restored big block 1967 Corvette parked in his garage back in Delaware. Since his election as Vice President in 2008, the Secret Service has limited Biden’s Corvette cruises to short trips up and down his driveway.

Following the launch of the C7 Corvette Z06 in 2014, Biden visited the North American International Auto Show with soon-to-be General Motors CEO Mary Barra to check out the new Corvette and the word is they practically had to use a crowbar to pry the VP out of the car.

Later, before a speech to the United Auto Workers (UAW), Biden talked about the 2015 Corvette Z06 and he gave what is perhaps his top reason for not wanting to be President:

“You know, by the way you guys, everyone wants to know whether I am going to run for president. There’s a lot of reasons to run for president, but there’s one overwhelming reason not to run for president. I’d like to get that Z06 with 0-60 in 3.4 seconds. 3.4 seconds! You tack that sucker up to six grand and this comes out of the hole like a bullet, man.” – Joe Biden (Feb 2014).

According to The Hill newspaper, the Draft Biden movement has 20,000 signatures on their petition with a goal of 30,000 signatures by the end of April.

The “Ridin with Biden” image is available on a number of items in the Draft Biden 2016 online store including bumper stickers, t-shirts and even hoodies for dogs.

According to William Pierce, director of the Draft Biden group, the stylized logo “taps into his friendliness, why the voters love him.”
