[PICS] Vice President Joe Biden Visits the Corvette Display at NAIAS

Let’s put politics aside for a moment as we show these pictures of Vice President Joe Biden checking out the new 2015 Corvette Z06 at the Chevrolet display at the North American International Auto Show.

Biden is a long-time Corvette owner with a 1967 Corvette Big Block Roadster back home in his Delaware garage. So we’re pretty sure the excitement and smiles we are seeing on his face as he sits in the new Corvette Z06 and Stingray are genuine.

Showing VP Biden around was General Motors CEO Mary Barra.

Joe once lamented that being VP meant that the he really can’t enjoy driving his ’67 Corvette. Something about Secret Service saying no or something to that effect.

Here’s a related story from The Wall Street Journal:

The vice president has a 1967 Corvette Stingray that his father bought him as a wedding gift. He lamented that the Secret Service doesn’t allow him to drive it anymore due to security reasons, but that hasn’t stopped him getting behind the wheel in his driveway at his home in Delaware.

He said he told his Secret Service agent last year “either get in the passenger seat with me or shoot me, because I’m moving.” Mr. Biden said he did a 60-foot burnout—in his driveway, not on a public road.

He added: “I just want you to know that that ’67 was zero to 60 in 5.5 seconds. I didn’t do that…but it was. But this new Corvette, Z06, is zero to 60, allegedly, in 3.4 seconds.”

And just for some fun, remember when The Onion did this parody of Biden washing a Trans Am in the White House driveway?
