In Honor of Evan Thomason: 10th Annual Corvette Forum Fundraiser for St. Jude

Article contrtibuted by savewave / Corvette Forum

Evan Thomason was 10 years old when he lost his battle against cancer on September 22. While the medical and research staff at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital was not able to save Evan, they managed to give him five years he might not have otherwise had with family and friends.

With the blessing of his mom Melissa, Corvette Forum will dedicate its fundraising efforts for St. Jude during the next year to the memory of Evan, who touched so many people with his courage, positive attitude and joy for living. Some of you had the chance to meet Evan and Melissa when you visited Memphis for the annual Corvetteforum visit to St. Jude, others know about him from what they have read about Evan on Corvette Forum. For those who didn’t know Evan, this thread, and this video will give you some insight.

Over the last few weeks I have had several members ask when we are going to get started—so here we go. Thanks to our forum members and vendors last years donations totaled $80,304. Over the last nine years, CorvetteForum members have managed to raise over $580,000 for the children of St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Here are the donations for the past 9 years:

2003: $23,500
2004: $23,800
2005: $38,000
2006: $61,000
2007: $75,000
 2008: $100,500
 2009: $100,501
2010: $77,600

Please note, there’s no place to add your user name when using the St. Jude Donor page, so please post in this thread that this is the option used, and PM pewter99 or cor08vette, so that we can add your ’12 St. Jude Donor tag. Important Tax Deduction Info:

Using options one or two will get you a receipt from St. Jude for tax purposes. Paypal will not. And please remember to list your forum name on any donation so that we can give your St. Jude Donor 2012 tag, and for record keeping. Posting in the thread also assists us.

Thanks again for nine successful years helping save the children of St. Jude, and children all over the world. I invite any member to assist in this fundraiser by conducting local events to help raise money. Click here for more info on St. Jude.

Editor’s note
The amount of money that you, the members of the Corvette community, have donated to St. Jude over the years to help children fight cancer is just fantastic. For those that may not be familiar with the forum’s annual fundraiser, in addition to making donations, the vendors on the site also donate products and services which the members can than bid on. The auction items can usually be found as a sticky at the top of the major sections. So next time you’re on the forum, please take the opportunity to see what is being offered and if it’s something you want or need, make a bid as you will also be helping to make a difference in the lives of children who are stricken with this terrible disease.
