Thieves Steal a Blue 1975 Corvette in Florida Heist

Last week thieves broke into a house in the small community of Wimauma which is Southeast of Tampa. After ransacking the house and taking furniture, electronics and appliances, two antique cars, a 1975 blue Convertible Corvette and a purple custom 1929 two-door Ford street rod were stolen from the garage.

The Blue Corvette Convertible is powered by a 350-horsepower V8 and was valued at $25,000. The car has two tops, a convertible soft top and a removable vinyl hard top. We don’t have the VIN which is unfortunate, but the car’s license plate is a Florida Tag reading BD4948.

The other car stolen is much rarer and therefore should be easier to find. It’s a custom 1929 Ford two-door painted in “Plymouth Prowler Purple.” The car has great sentimental value for the owner, Ronald Moore, who was close friends with the car’s previous owner who has since past away from cancer.

The total loss of the cars is estimated to be $95,000 while $6,000 in household items were stolen as well.

Moore spoke to one of the local television stations and said: “I can buy another Corvette, even if you can find someone to build another street rod like the 29, it would never have the sentimental value.”

There is a reward for the return of the cars. If you have any info, please call Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay at 1-800-873-TIPS (8477).
