Last week was a bit of a whirlwind for us as we traveled over 6,000 miles in a 24-hour span. Our destination was the Chevrolet display at the Los Angeles Auto Show to see the new 2019 Corvette ZR1.
The trip came following the ZR1’s Dubai reveal when several friends decided they were going to fly out to LA for the day to see the car. Our friend Mike Furman said he was in as well, and dubbed the trip as the “Bonzai run to the see the ZR1“.
So last Tuesday morning I was out the door by 3:30 am and by 5 am I on my first of four flights for the day. When I arrived in California, a quick cab ride got me downtown (and when I say quick, it’s because my cabbie hit 84 mph in a Prius!) and by 10:30 AM Pacific time, I was standing in front of the new 2019 Corvette ZR1s.
After following the development of these new Corvettes for the last year, seeing them in person just brings it all home. The redesigned front nose of the Corvette ZR1 looks great and seeing the rear wings in both configurations helps put the function of the ZR1 into perspective. I’ve always been a fan of the unique five-pointed star wheels which look fantastic as they are finished in carbon flash black metallic. The only ZR1-centric design point that has yet to win me over is the carbon fiber side vents on the front quarter panels.
The stage where the Corvette ZR1s were shown featured a huge video screen behind them which rotated from Corvette ZR1 images to various landscapes and lifestyle vignettes playing between two different live presentations from Chevrolet’s spokespeople. We’ve already featured several videos from the LA Auto Show so make sure to check them out if you haven’t seen them yet.
I’ve got a fairly large gallery of Corvette ZR1 images from the show and they are presented below. I also included several images from Jeremy Welborn (@jagamajajaran on the Forums) who captured some of the group shots of the fellow Corvette enthusiasts who also came out to California to see Chevy’s new 755-horsepower ZR1 supercar.

OK. The burning question that has been haunting me: How do you get ZR1 out of that logo? I only see ZR0.
I agree … it also looks like ZR 11, can’t GM do better, who ever approved that?
I agree — that is a pretty strange way to write a “1”. Looks like an upside down “Q” to me
