A 24-year-old Corvette driver lost his life over the weekend on a California highway after going over a railing and landing upside down in his red C5 convertible.
California Highway Patrol officials say the accident happened about 8:14 p.m. Sunday when the Corvette was traveling westbound on State Route 94 near the SR-125 interchange and tried to change lanes, side swiping a sedan in the process.
The collision sent the Corvette soaring over the guard railing and plunging nearly 70 feet to Spring Street below, where it landed on its top.
The driver of the sedan involved in the crash remained at the scene and called 911.
The accident happened at the border of La Mesa and Spring Valley.
