Corvettes on Craigslist: The Mooney Vette

In my hometown, an enterprising fellow has built a huge treehouse downtown, where he actually lives.

His creation is always changing. One year, he even attached an airplane to create additional living space.

That’s one reason we aren’t too critical of the fellow who placed this Craigslist ad for what is definitely a one-of-a-kind Corvette or should we say a one-of-a-kind Mooney Airplane?

The owner has attached a 1963 Mooney Airplane on a 1984 Corvette stretched frame and suspension – powered by a 1998 Dodge V6 fuel-injected engine with an automatic transmission.

“It seems I have come under ridicule for my creation,” the owner admits, “which is in actuality recycling. The plane crashed in a field never to fly again and was headed to the scrapyard as was the Vette and Dakota truck.”

Included in the sale price are “all the necessary major components to finish the project,” the seller says, adding in what may be the understatement of the year that his creation is “unusual … one of a kind.”

In case you’re wondering if this contraption will fly, the owner says, “I believe I can get it up to speed.”

Wouldn’t that be a sight at the next cruise-in, or would it be a fly-in?

Apparently, this guy has a big imagination as he also mentioned a couple of videos of what he describes as “my other out-of-the-box creations” – a V10 Chevelle and a 1958 Delray with the 84 Vette engine and Doug Nash 4+3 transmission.

We watched the video for the Delray and have to admit it’s pretty cool. The owner describes the video, writing: “Dee in 58 Chevy DelRay trying out the Doug Nash 4+3 tranny. We manage to wire it so we have 8 gears forward and 2 reverse gears. What a blast to drive, as a straight 4 speed or 8 way splitter setup, up through and down shifting. Engine still isn’t running to our liking, but we’ll geterdone.”
