If you can’t wait a couple of years to see if Chevy finally delivers on the much-dreamed-about mid-engine Corvette, you might want to check out this American Supercars 1963 split window-inspired mid-engine Corvette concept known as the V7 Twin Turbo.

It’s up for auction in Lot No. 712 on Sunday, March 29 by Auctions America in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where it’s estimated it will bring $90,000 to $110,000.

That’s a lot of money, but it’s a relative bargain when you consider just how much car the new owner will be getting. It’s likely it could not be replicated for that amount, for sure.

For years, we’ve reported on this hand-crafted custom 1963 Corvette that remains unlike any other in the world when it was introduced at SEMA in 2007.

It’s been described as “a stunning reinvention or vision of the future,” has earned the coveted GM Design Award, and has been dynoed at an incredible 1,067 horsepower and 915 lb-ft of torque. Compare that to the 650/650 output of the current 2015 Corvette Z06, and you get an idea of the amazing performance of this car that will explode from 0 to 60 in less than three seconds.

To make sure your friends will know exactly what lurks under the sleek black body of your V7, the entire split-window area rises on pistons to let them see this impressive power-maker.

Another “wow” factor is the industry-first “suislide” doors. See the photo to see how they work.

The car also features a custom tube dual ladder frame, Penske Racing fully adjustable suspension, huge six-piston Baer brakes with cross-drilled rotors, and custom HRE wheels inside Michelin’s widest tires. You’ll also enjoy race-style seating by Cobra with full Crow harness system and modern conveniences like power windows and HVAC.

The one thing you won’t get, though, is an audio system because the builders believe all the music you need to hear comes from the twin turbo engine right behind your ears!

Many in the automotive industry are impressed with this one-of-a-kind Corvette, including Kip Wasenko, GM Performance design director, who says: “The Corvette (that) Duntov would have built to win Le Mans; exquisite execution, sensuous lines, amazing details, the V7 is the finest I have ever seen. The best of the best.”

Now the V7 Twin Turbo is looking for a new home. Will it be in your driveway soon?
