Six people were injured, including a 12-year-old boy, after a Sunday afternoon crash between a 2025 Corvette Z06 and a 2020 GMC Terrain near Chicago.
Video from the scene shows the Red Mist Z06 with heavy damage to the front end and passenger side while the Terrain is resting nearby on its side, with the roof detached to allow rescue personnel to extract some of the passengers inside.
Ejected from the back seat of the Terrain, the injured boy had to be airlifted to Ann & Robert Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago and is listed in critical condition.
Five other people inside the two vehicles are in stable condition at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, authorities said.
Reports don’t say what caused the accident, so we don’t know if speeding or reckless driving by the person behind the wheel of the 670-horsepower Z06 played a role. However, it’s still a good time for all of us to remember that driving is a serious responsibility and not to be taken lightly, especially in a powerful car like the C8 Z06.

Why was the 12 year old boy ejected?
Wow. People never learn. As a retired firefighter from Miami, I cannot tell you the amount of times we requested adults to PLEASE restrain their CHILDREN in thier cars.
So sad.
So preventable.
Man, to do that much damage and flip the GMC on it’s side speed almost had to be a factor. But that’s not enough to tell us who was at fault. The Terrain may have cut right in front of the Z06.
The tragedy is that even today people are dumb enough to leave a child unrestrained in a car.
