Since the C2 Corvette remains his favorite generation of Chevy’s legendary sports car, perhaps it was only a matter of time before Cars & Bids founder Doug DeMuro broke his own rule about allowing only more modern vehicles on his popular auction website.
DeMuro started Cars & Bids in 2020, focusing his platform on cars built after 1981 because that’s when the standardized 17-digit VINs started, making it easier to verify records and run reports like Carfax and hopefully attracting younger enthusiasts who dig early BMW M cars and 1990s sports coupes from Japan.
But never say never.
Aware that it was leaving money on the table with the continued strong interest in older classics like 1960s and 1970s Corvettes, Cars & Bids has just decided to change its philosophy, beginning with three classic listings.
One of the debutantes is this beautiful 1963 Corvette resto-mod convertible, repainted in the popular (but soon to be axed) C8 shade of Rapid Blue, complemented by a black soft top and black interior.
“The C2 Corvette is my all-time favorite generation of Chevrolet’s all-American sports car because it combines beautiful, expressive ’60s styling with raw muscle car power,” DeMuro writes. “This 1963 Corvette Convertible is far from stock, though it should be fantastic to drive: it boasts an LS3 V8 and a 5-speed manual transmission, plus a whole host of upgrades intended to make it more modern and easier to enjoy.”
Changes to this first-year C2 include:
• Scoggin-Dickey/Chevrolet Performance 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine
• Holley Sniper electronic fuel injection system
• TREMEC TKX 5-speed manual transmission
• 18-inch Forgeline wheels
• Vansteel coilovers with QA1 shocks
• Wilwood Engineering braking system
• E-Stopp electronic parking brake
• Folding soft top
• Custom leather upholstery with blue stitching
• Dakota Digital instrument cluster
• Vintage Air climate control system
• Bluetooth-compatible Autosound stereo
The exact mileage on the vehicle over the past 62 years is unknown, but the new digital unit shows just 50 miles since being restored.

Hey everybody, what a beautiful Corvette and it sounds just right. I went to their website to see the videos and it shows SOLD – $160,000 for this blue rocket ship. These custom 2nd generation Corvettes seems to have a certain niche in the world of hot rods when they have all the right stuff, a new LS3, 6-speeds, coilovers, fat tires/wheels, and a price tag equal to a new 2025 Corvette ZR1 when you add the auction’s commission. Maybe it’s just a trend, but a great trend if you got money to spend. 1963 Convertible or new ZR1 Coupe SuperCar!

As long as Doug has money to fund his hobby, I don’t think he cares about principles. His biases are showing all day every day, and he’s arguably not even as good a reviewer as he used to be. The only reason he’s still moderately interesting is reviews of cars like the Vector W8–which are impossible to find in detailed reviews elsewhere.
