The “Pebble Beach of Muscle Cars” rolls into Chicago next weekend November 23rd and 24th. The annual 2-day spectacle takes place at the Donald E. Stephens Convention in Rosemont, Illinois. The Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals (MCACN) celebrates the absolute best of the best in Corvettes and muscle cars on the planet.
This is one of our favorite shows each year. The diversity and rarity of cars is virtually unmatched. In a recent social media post, the MCACN team noted that nearly 600 cars will be displayed. The show cars hail from 41 states and come from as far away as Germany and Canada.
This year’s “Red Carpet” display celebrates 60 years of the GTO and greets attendees as they enter the show. There’s also a bumper crop of Premier Unveilings showing off freshly restored cars being shown for the first time since completion. This year’s mix includes both 1959 and 1971 Corvettes among the other reveals.
Speaking of Corvettes, our friends at Corvette Central are sponsoring the Triple Diamond Competition once again. Here you’ll see a record 50 participants competing for Concourse Gold and Triple Diamond accolades. These best of the best Corvettes have already won Bloomington Gold and NCRS Top Flight honors. Additionally, Mid America Motorworks will be bringing their CERV IVb which served as a mule for the C5 program.
MCACN’s Invitational displays set it apart from other car events. The 2024 list of special displays is as diverse as ever. NCM Insurance is sponsoring the Class of 1969 Invitational while the High School Reunion display salutes folks who still own the cars they drove in high school. Other “shows within the show” include 1968-9 Buick Gran Sports, Mopar Hemi’s from 1964-1971, Pontiac 2+2’s, Buick GNX’s, and factory lightweight drags cars. You’ll also see a salute to our military heroes, Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag racers, and the Future Generation Invitational featuring owners under 25 years old. Don’t forget the Barn Finds and Hidden Gems, the Mopar A12 reunion, or the Nash/AMC and Studebaker special displays.
If you need a break from all the cars, hit up one of the seminars over the course of the weekend. Hear from legendary drag racers like Butch Leal, Arnie Beswick, Paul Rossi and others. Then meet the next generation as panelists 13-25 years talk about our hobby. Other celebrities on site throughout the weekend include Courtney Hansen, Chris Jacobs, and Wayne Carini among others. Of course, there’s a myriad of vendors selling only automotive related products. Whether you need parts, tools, detail supplies, or apparel, you’ll find it offered there.
MCACN keeps the kiddos in mind as well through their Youth Judging program. Here kids get to meet some of the owners, do actual judging, and select Kids’ Pick award winners. In addition, there’s a scavenger hunt, model car “make and take”, a coloring contest, and Hot Wheels racing as well.
The 2024 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals take place November 23rd and 24th at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois (just outside of Chicago). The show runs 9am-8pm on Saturday the 23rd and 9am-5pm on Sunday the 24th. Single day tickets are $40 each online and $45 at the gate. Weekend passes are $80. Kids 12 and under always get in free and Sunday is Military Appreciation Day where past and present military members get in free. Just show your military ID card at Will Call in the main lobby.
