Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports finished their second endurance contest for 2024 at the Twelve Hours of Sebring. It was a mixed result and also a “what could have been” moment as the no. 3 Corvette Z06 GT3.R racer had the pace and was in contention for a podium finish within the last five minutes of the race until they were knocked off the course by the no. 77 Porsche 911. That contact dropped the leading Z06 GT3.R down to 10th place, while the Porsche was given a drive-through penalty and finished 9th.

As for the number 4 Corvette, it developed an issue with its electronics and laps were lost as they had to replace a main relay in the 6th hour of the race. From then on, focus turned to using the rest of the race for testing and diagnostics, while also helping support the no.3 Corvette. The number 3 Corvette also lost its AC compressor, so those drivers were running without air conditioning in a cockpit where temperatures approached 120-degreess Fahrenheit.

Here is a recap of the 12-hour race from Sebring and we really like this format from PMMS as we get some additional details from behind the scenes. Check it out below!

In our second outing with the all-new Corvette Z06 GT3.R at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, the team faced an intense on-track showdown. The No. 3 Corvette fiercely contended for a podium finish, holding its ground in second place in the GTD PRO class. However, the race took a dramatic turn when it was struck from behind, causing it to spin off track, thwarting its podium aspirations.

The IMSA Corvette Z06 GT3.Rs will continue their 2024 racing campaign at Laguna Seca Raceway on May 12th.

  1. Wheb the nighttime in-car video started towards the end I was expecting it to show the contact by the Porsche, or at least the result of the contact being the #3 car going off the track and into the tire barrier. Surprised that it didn’t, and curious as to why they chose not to show it.

  2. Quote from the driver of the #77 Porsche — “I fought like a lion in the final phase and had several contacts – more than likely there isn’t a single panel on the car that isn’t scratched. Unfortunately, I had to accept a 20-second penalty at the end because I bumped a Corvette. Ninth place is a shame.”

  3. If interested, the contact and result thereof can be seen from the perspective of the #77 Porsche’s in-car video at 2:43:06 of the video at this link:

  4. Clearly evident that the Lexus, 62 Ferrari as well the green Porsche were been faster than the two PM Corvettes as well the drivers were been more aggressive at the end.

  5. Hopefully Corvette Racing is not the ‘Aint’s’ this year. Vasser Sullivan looks to be the championship contender this year.
