2024 Corvette Z06 Configurator is Now Showing Prices After Gas Guzzler Tax Confirmed

When the three 2024 Corvette Build and Price Configurators went live last week, buyers for the Z06 were presented with messages saying “See Dealer for Pricing” despite the fact that pricing was confirmed days earlier.

We believed that it was the gas guzzler tax that may have been in play, and a discussion with a Chevy rep confirmed late last week that there was no amount for the gas guzzler tax showing in the GM order system for the Z06.

This morning we reached out to Chevrolet on this subject and we have some good news to share. First, it was the gas guzzler tax that prompted the “See Dealer for Pricing” message on the Z06 Configurator, and second, we are happy to report that there is no change in the tax from its 2023 figures. That means that non-Z07 buyers will be paying the same $2,600 for the GG tax while those opting for the Z07 Performance Package will have to pay $3,000.

The Gas Guzzler tax has been with us since 1978 as the EPA attempts to discourage buyers from the purchase of “fuel-inefficient vehicles.” Today, all vehicles with a combined MPG of less than 22.5 are subjected to the tax.

Chevrolet announced last year that the Z06’s MPG ratings are 12 City/21 Highway and 15 MPG Combined for the base Z06. The ratings for the Z06 with the Z07 Performance Package are 12 City/19 Highway for a combined 14 MPG.

We checked the 2024 Corvette Build Configurator for the Z06 this morning, and the “See Dealers for Pricing” still shows on the first page, but it will show totals as you add/update options. The Chevy representative we contacted said it should be updated sometime overnight.
