In a new video posted this week, Thomas with Heart of Texas Barn Finds and Classics on YouTube takes his viewers on a walk inside and out to take a peek at an assorted collection of classic cars like Camaros, Mustangs, Grand Nationals, and more, with a few modern vehicles thrown in for good measure.
But it’s a pair of 1958 Corvette convertibles he’s really got his eye on during this visit.
“This is why I came today,” he says after spotting the two vintage C1s in the field. “Hopefully he’ll sell me one of these, maybe he’ll sell both of them.”
Thomas has been looking for a ’58 for a awhile but says they’ve proven to be a unicorn so far. “Either you can’t find it or it’s not for sale,” he laments.
These examples definitely need a lot of work, but that’s OK with Thomas, who has plans to insert a modern engine like an LS1 or LS3 under the hood and turn it into a restomod, rather than the most costly way of taking it back to like new.
“This one’s pretty raggedy,” Thomas says as he walks around the first car, “but anything can be fixed as long as the frame ain’t rusted out.”
Inside the cockpits, in the trunks, and under the hoods of both Corvettes are a collection of parts that will make the restoration easier, at least hopefully.
Unfortunately, the owner of the business where the cars are parked isn’t there the day he’s looking, but his helper has promised to let him know Thomas is in the market to buy at least one of the cars,
“He said he’s gonna let him know I stopped by and maybe we can make a deal on one of them ’58 Corvettes,” Thomas says. “That’s what I’m hoping for. He said he’d probably let one of them go. He bought them as a package but they [also] have a third frame so really they could build three cars. I don’t know – I just want one of them, and I’m gonna keep it … and fix it, give it to my kids one of these days so hopefully we can make a deal.”
Guess we’ll have to wait until another video comes out to hear what Thomas finds out.

If you go the resto-mod route, may as well go all in on one of these frames. That tired frame and a high hp engine and brakes are no match.
