This is probably one of the most heartwarming car videos I have ever watched, as it validates everything we as automotive enthusiasts love about this hobby. It’s a Jerry Heasley video that starts off as a typical field car rescue and then turns into the feel-good adventure for everyone involved.
It’s not often that we share a story that’s not focused on a Corvette, but this one is definitely worth your time.
It’s the story of an original owner of a ’66 Chevelle SS 396 whose car was special to him and his wife as that’s the car he was driving when they were dating. At some point in 1986, the car was parked, and it would sit under a tarp for the next 35 years. John Graham would sell the car to a guy who had a health scare the week after the purchase. The new owner explained his goal became to get the rusty car running and road-worthy and then let the original owner and his wife take it to their first car show.
As was the case, the Chevelle would become the star of the show as John held court and would share his memories about the car with anyone who asked him about it. John’s wife also gets into the spirit as she slides next to her husband as he drives his old car just like she did back when they were courting.
