We’ve been working with our friends over at the MidEngineCorvetteForum.com for the last couple of days to confirm that several buyers have already had their orders matched to a Corvette Z06 allocation and they are reporting that these orders are already at “Status 3000 – Accepted by Production Control.” Even better news is that one of these customers has confirmed a TPW (target production week) of September 19th!

What makes these customers special that their orders are already being moved forward is that Chevy is processing the special PIN orders which are those customers who have requested a custom VIN for their cars. As of yesterday there were eight Z06s at 3000 Status identified and they include five 70th Anniversary cars with custom VIN and three non-anniversary cars with the custom VIN. For the two customers who we know of who are members on MECF, they ordered a 70th Anniversary model with a custom VIN.

We remember that the 2020 Stingray had a number of custom PIN orders as its one way for deep-pocketed customers to move up the list. The PIN option costs $5000 and we are told that there is an application process to request a VIN, however, not all PIN requests are approved.

Other dealers have also stated that their orders are already moving forward as well. We heard from our friend Rick Accurso at City Chevrolet who has already placed the orders for the VIN 001 70th Anniversary Coupe and the first retail Convertible purchased at auction earlier in the year by Chevrolet dealer and NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick. However, another dealer tells us that not all these early Z06s moving forward are 70th Anniversary or PIN cars, but he wasn’t at the liberty to provide any other info.

These behind-the-scenes jockeying are just the prelude to the start of regular production for the 2023 Corvette Z06. With a Z06 customer now having a TPW of September 19th, I think this is a pretty strong indicator that dealers will finally receive their first official Z06 allocation numbers and that Z06 ordering may begin in earnest in just a couple of weeks.

  1. Lady Gaga got her order in, Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi are picking their’s up at Ciocca next month. Prince Henry got a right hand drive model coming to the UK by the end of the year. The rest of us average working people are going to have to wait 3 to 4 years to get ours. Hopefully, the $100,000.00 over MSRP will be lower by then.
