Corvettes for Sale: One-Owner 34K-Mile 1996 Corvette Collector Edition

As Chevy prepared for the all-new C5 Corvette in 1997, the automaker decided to send the long-running fourth-generation car out with a bang.

Of course, the 1,000-run Grand Sport with its Admiral Blue paint and distinctive white stripe and black wheels was the star of the show.

But Chevy also offered a Collector’s Edition in 1996 and wound up building 5,412 of these coupes and convertibles with Sebring Silver paint, 17-inch ZR-1-style wheels, unique badges, and embroidered seats.

One lucky woman received this Collector’s Edition coupe in a raffle, and now her grandson is helping her sell the car on Hemmings Auctions.

The Corvette has been driven just 34,000 miles over the past quarter of a century and is described as being in “beautiful” condition.

“Original” seems to be the keyword for this car, which would seem to be a prize catch for the second owner as well.

The condition of the paint, for example, is described as “original” and “extremely good,” with only a few small blemishes shown in photos. Likewise, the glass and the wheels are said to be in “very good” condition.

We wish the car had the rare red interior, but still, the more common black seats show only light visible wear, and the carpet and door panels look good, too.

The stock, all-original chassis and suspension have no known problems, and the stock LT1 5.7-liter V8 engine is rated at 300 horsepower and is hooked to a four-speed automatic transmission.

This car appears to have been babied over the years, with recent maintenance records including a two-year-old invoice for service that included a new fuel pump, serpentine belt, EGR equipment, and other maintenance work.

Current bid, by the way, is $7,100, below reserve with 10 days remaining in the auction. Will you snag this ’96 Collector’s Edition for your garage?
