As one of the key members of the Corvette Team, Bowling Green Assembly Plant Director Kai Spande is the man responsible for the production of new Corvettes. It’s been a difficult year for all those involved in automotive manufacturing and we very interested to glean any details about the current situation from those in the know. But as with any CORVETTE TODAY Podcast, you’ll also have the opportunity to learn more about the man himself and his worldwide journey with GM that eventually landed him in a sweet gig in southcentral Kentucky.

Your host, Steve Garrett, introduces you to Kai as he traces his career with GM. Kai talks about how the Bowling Green Assembly Plant transitioned from the front engine, C7 Corvette, to the mid-engine C8 Corvette. You’ll get insights on the plant expansion and how they made that all happen…giving the new C8 Corvette a true state-of-the-art build facility.

Kai also tells you about the Corvettes he has owned and the funny story of how he loved Corvettes but never thought he’d get to work for it during his tenure at GM.

  1. I would hope if Kai reads this he could light a fire under someone and get my 2021 Corvette HTC fixed. In the 6 months I have had the car it has been in the shop over 80 days and it is still there! The HTC crashes when it closes. 5 times in the shop and they keep throwing parts at it. A tech came once 6 weeks ago and it worked 5-6 times and crashed. Customer service offered a maintenance plan for my trouble. $97,500 for a car that has become a nightmare! A tech is coming sometime but they can’t tell me when! I asked for a new car and I do not want to wait 13 months again! The first time it was worked on they found a screwdriver in the closing mechanism from the factory! He does not believe that caused this issue! Sucks!!!
