The World’s largest Corvette party is coming to Effingham, IL as thousands of Corvettes and their owners will descend on the campus of Mid America Motorworks for the 26th Annual Corvette Funfest on Sept 19-22.
CorvetteBlogger’s Keith Cornett (that’s me!) will be participating in seminars and discussions about the Corvette hobby. The list of dignitaries includes retired Chief Engineer Dave McLellan, retired Bowling Green Assembly Plant Manager Will Cooksey, retired Corvette Brand Manager Fred Gallasch, “Corvettes at Carlisle” President Lance Miller and restorers and authors Chris Petris and Kevin Mackay.
The four-day event is jammed packed with different driving events and entertainment options in addition to all the great seminars, product sales and mod installs happening under the famous Mid America Motorworks’ FunDome.
On Thursday, September 19th, Corvette owners will drive to Mike Yager’s hometown of Newton, IL for a special homecoming and birthday celebration. Meanwhile, Lingenfelter will be hosting the Corvette Drag Races at Coles County Dragway.
Friday, September 20th will feature a special drive to the Tuscan Hills Winery for a charity event to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. A special light show will be hosted by Wind Restrictor.
On Saturday, September 21st, enthusiasts can caravan to Lake Sara for boat tours and a visit to the historic Oilfield and Moonshine burger joint. Saturday night’s concert will feature the Beatles band “The Return” as well as rising country star Dakota Danielle.
The final day of Funfest comes on Sunday, September 22nd with a caravan to the Cross at the Crossroads located at the intersection of I57 and I70. Those at the show on Sunday can take advantage of Blue Light Specials.
Corvette Funfest is one of the premier Corvette shows in the country and we’re looking forward to joining thousands of Corvette fans to celebrate our favorite car as well as enjoy the hospitality the Yager family is known for! Hope to see you there!
