The National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park isn’t just for Corvettes.
That’s no secret.
A prime example of that is this special 2017 Camaro that recently drove away with honors from the Professional Marketing Association of Bowling Green, Ky.
Mobil 1, which makes the official motor oil of the Motorsports Park, donated the 2017 Turbo Camaro to the park, and it’s been used successfully over the past few months to promote that company and the Motorsports Park, too.
A North Carolina firm designed two custom wraps for the Camaro, and during a social media campaign, fans voted for their favorite one that was then applied to the car.
The dressed-up Camaro – which was nicknamed Mobil1na – received a Facebook page and Twitter profile of its own. The car has since appeared in the Louisville (Ky.) Auto Show, Hot Rod Power Tour, CamaroFest, Car Craft Summer Nationals, drivers’ education programs, local school visits, leading touring laps on the track, and more.
The marketing campaign was so successful that the NCM Motorsports Park and Mobil 1 received a Gold award from the PMA in the Out of Home advertising category, which includes billboards, vehicle wraps, moving ads, political campaigns, mascots, guerilla marketing, word of mouth, and professional networking strategy.
They received the honor during the annual Markie Awards held Nov. 21 at the Holiday Inn University Plaza hotel.
“This project was more than a simple vehicle wrap,” said Katie Ellison, Marketing and Communications Manager. “We wanted to engage our fans and allow them to have ownership in this new addition to the track. Mobil 1 is the official motor oil of the NCM Motorsports Park, and we were thrilled when they came to us with the idea to donate a Camaro. They have been supportive of the various endeavors to use the car to promote both the track and Mobil 1, and we can’t wait to see what’s next for Mobil1na!”
Indeed, the car can be seen at the Motorsports Park when it’s not on the road in 2018 to several events, including the Louisville and Cincinnati Auto Shows, Hot Rod Power Tour, and others. You can keep up with this award-winning Camaro on Facebook, too.
