The last few IMSA WeatherTech races haven’t been very fun to watch for Corvette Racing fans as the two C7.Rs have consistently started from the rear of the GTLM class since the second half of the season began after Le Mans.

It’s only been through outstanding racecraft, changing the race stategy on the fly, and of course Lady Luck that the team been able to hang onto their lead for the GTLM championships.

The good news is that it appears officials at IMSA have finally taken notice and so the two Corvettes will gain some additional power for next weekend’s Michelin GT Challenge at VIR.

IMSA updated the Balance of Performance tables this week and the two C7.Rs will gain a 0.5mm increase in the air restrictors (30.6mm) as well as an increase of 0.5mm for the refueling restrictors (32mm).

Other BoP changes to GTLM include the Ford GT losing 3 liters of fuel capacity as well as receiving a reduction in their refueling restrictor by 0.5mm (30mm). The BMW M6s will also lose 0.5mm on their refueling restrictor as well (35mm).

The Michelin GT Challenge at Virginia International Raceway takes place the week of August 25-27th. The Green Flag falls at 1:25 pm ET on Sunday, August 27th.
