Corvettes on Craigslist: A Pair of 1963 Corvettes

As a young boy, I used to dream of finding a 1963 Corvette tucked away in a field, hidden by weeds until I found it and then lovingly brought it back to life. Well, here’s my chance.

But ouch, that price tag of $30,000 for these two 1963 convertibles in less than desirable condition seems more than a little steep to us.

As one person wisecracked in a comments section on another website, you could take these two cars, spend $100,000, and wind up with one nice $65,000 Corvette.

Or you could just go to a Mecum auction and buy one already restored for that much or less.

Of course, as Garth Brooks points out, that way you’d have missed the dance!

The whole point for some folks is the journey and the life lessons learned along the way as they put their heart and soul into restoring a Corvette.

Those people would definitely be right at home with these Craigslisttwo 63s for sale on Craigslist in Pasadena, Texas.

The red convertible looks absolutely hideous after suffering extensive fire damage, leaving it with no interior and rear fiberglass. The fire did leave behind metal parts, such as the rear bumpers, filler cap, steering wheel rim, and seat frames. That might be a good place to start.

The silver car, on the other hand, definitely wins the appearance battle, though some observers think it may have a damaged frame from a previous crash based on the way it sits kind of odd. The interior also looks much better, but in a case like this, does that really matter? During a restoration, the whole interior on either car would have to be completely redone.

As for the powerplants, no photos of the engines are provided, but they could have the ever-popular 327 under the hood – condition unknown, if they do.

A restomod might be a good angle to take on these two cars, though again some folks would probably rather start out with a nicer pair than these.

The bottom line is that if someone does pay $30,000 to start out with these two rough Corvettes, they’ve definitely got their work cut out for them and it’s likely they’re never going to make their money back. If they aren’t concerned with the condition of their wallets after they’re through with this project and just want to do their part to save a Sting Ray, we say more power to them.
