Corvettes on eBay: Big Block Project 1969 Corvette Stingray

Some of the most important ingredients are there in this eBay find.

Now someone just needs a large mixing bowl to put them all together and blend them with some new materials to produce one tasty treat of a Corvette.

That’s one way of looking at this 1969 Corvette T-Top Coupe that still has its original matching numbers 427/390 engine, along with the rare combination of power steering and brakes and factory air and four-speed transmission.

The seller notes that the engine has been cranked and runs smoothly, and the car still shifts into gear and moves. They haven’t been able to drive the car, though, because with the brake bleeders rounded off, they can’t bleed the brakes to get functional stopping power.

The current owner says the two previous title-holders believe the car has always been a Southern vehicle stored mainly under cover. That’s why they believe it’s structurally sound, with just surface rust.

From the photos, you can see some minor fiberglass repairs that need to be done, though the seller believes his inspection to show there is no major collision damage.

On the other hand, some of the original parts are missing, including the original intake manifold, original exhaust manifolds, AC compressor and brackets, original air cleaner, spare tire and carrier, and two of the wheel center caps.

“This is a rare car that will need a complete restoration,” the seller admits in his ad.

But at the time, he notes that a similar restored Corvette in No. 1 condition averages $60,000 in in the November issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines.

The interior is in what best be termed “Elvis condition,” with pleated seat covers and faces a total overhaul.

This is at least the second time we’ve seen this car listed. The current bid is $12,800 but the reserve has yet to be reached. The auction ends today and so keep an eye out as we may be seeing it again.

Still, it would be nice to see this 1969 back to its full glory and riding the roads of America again.
