In light of Corvette’s recent troubles with Motor Trend, we are happy to report some great news about another recent test the magazine ran in conjunction with its Best Driver’s Car series. When you have that many performance cars together, there really is only one test that matters…who can win the World’s Greatest Drag Race 5.
The Corvette Z06 was up against some pretty stiff competition, and while we held our breath as Motor Trend used every camera angle trick in the book to not show you who wins until the very end, the red Corvette Z06 came out on top.
Here’s the set up from Motor Trend:
[quote_box_center]We have the Mercedes AMG GT S, Bentley Continental GT3-R, Chevrolet Corvette Z06, Cadillac ATS-V, Volkswagen Golf R, Porsche Cayman GT4, Mazda MX-5 Miata, Mercedes-AMG C63 S, Lexus RC F, Cadillac CTS-V — all gathered together on an abandoned airstrip at El Toro Marine Base to find out which car is the fastest. Obviously these 10 competitors display a wide range of power and performance, so why do we continue lining them up for one, over-the-top drag race?… Because We Can![/quote_box_center]
Some might say, “why are you spoiling the ending for us?” I have to shout good news about the Corvette. If you haven’t figured it out, that’s kinda what we do here.
So, sorry I ruined the ending (not really). but I promise you will enjoy it just the same:
As MT’s Jonny Lieberman suggests at the beginning, on paper, the Corvette Z06 was the car to beat and in this case it surely didn’t disappoint.
This Red Corvette Z06 used in the World’s Greatest Drag Race 5 is also on the cover of the Motor Trend’s November 2015 issue. Too bad it wasn’t the car chosen to compete for the Best Driver’s Car competition.
