[VIDEO] Corvette Stingray's PDR Captures a Tire Blowout on the Highway

We knew that once Corvettes were armed with the Performance Data Recorder that YouTube would never be the same. Already we are starting to see PDR videos online and they aren’t just videos that captured on-track driving. Corvette owners are using the PDR as dash cams and it’s only a matter of time before a PDR captures a “dashcam moment” like we see coming out of Russia every day.

One Corvette Forum member had his PDR activated as he was driving on a toll road in Fort Worth, TX when a semi tractor-trailer had a tire blowout in front of him.

Corvette Forum member Abrimberry was cruising in his 2015 Corvette doing an easy 65 mph on the 70 mph toll road in 8th gear when the incident occurred. One of the truck’s right side wheels blew, showering the roadway with debris and chunks of rubber. Abrimberry was able to avoid the mess and we see from the PDR as the truck heads right for the exit lanes, Abrimberry’s 8-speed automatic transmission drops to 5th gear as he begins to accelerate away from truck. Once he’s past it and eases off the throttle, the auto transmission shifts up through the gears back to 8th.

Granted this isn’t a life changing event that was captured by the PDR but I do think it is just the first of many PDR videos that will soon be populating youtube and shared on social media.

So by watching this video, you can be among the first to experience a “dashcam moment” in the new 2015 Corvette Stingray with the Performance Data Recorder:

Thanks Abrimberry for sharing the video with us!
