[PICS] 2013 60th Anniversary Corvette Shows Off New Tonal Stripe Top

Fresh off its appearance at Barrett-Jackson, where VIN #001 raised $700,000 for charity, the 2013 427 Convertible featuring the 60th Anniversary Package is now on display at the Chicago Auto Show. Although absent in Scottsdale, the new two-toned striped convertible top is now on the car and thanks to our friends at Kerbeck Corvette, we can share the first photos of the newest ragtop Corvette from the Windy City.

One of the key design elements of the Anniversary Package is the optional stripe that is carried the full length of the car including the convertible top. Within the initial 60th Anniversary’s press release, it was described as “An optional graphics package adds full-length racing stripes in Pearl Silver Blue, including a tonal stripe stitched into the convertible top, extending the graphic theme over the roof.”

As you can see, the tonal stripe matches the width of full body stripe and helps connect the stripe front and back when the top is up. One design element we particularly like is how the stripe flows down on the waterfall between the two seats.

Also nice to see in the photos is the Corvette Team’s Harlan Charles, shown seated in the new special edition convertible.

Kerbeck was told that the material of the top is one single piece of fabric and there is no separate material stitched onto it to make the stripe.

The 2013 Corvette 60th Anniversary Package and the 427 Convertible will begin production in May of this year with the first 2013 Corvettes expected to hit showrooms starting in June. The two special editions are Chevy’s swan song to the C6 generation Corvette which enjoyed a nine year run beginning in 2005.

The Chicago Auto Show opens to the public this Friday and you can find the 427 Convertible with the 60th Anniversary Package on display within the Chevrolet area. Just look for the Bowtie!
