Noted Corvette collector and baseball legend Reggie Jackson will be offering four Corvettes at the Mecum at Monterey auction on August 13-14th at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa. The four cars include two 1967 L68 427/400 Corvettes and two straight axle C1s. The Corvettes are part of Jackson’s 16-car sale at the Monterey auction.
Of the four Corvettes, we find the 1961 fuel injected big brake car to be the most interesting. This multiple award winner was delivered to Lujack Schierbrock Chevrolet in Davenport, Iowa with all the equipment necessary to make it ready for all-out competition: the exceptionally rare RPO 687 “big brake” package, a fuel injected, solid lifter 283/315 HP V-8, 4-speed transmission and 4.11 Positraction rear end. Finished in Honduras Maroon with White coves and a Fawn Beige interior, the car includes a deluxe heater, auxiliary hard top and Wonderbar signal seeking radio.

Subsequent to its 1994 restoration it was awarded Bloomington Gold Certification and an NCRS Top Flight Award; in 1996 it was featured in the Bloomington Gold Special Collection. It has also earned the Chevy/Vettefest Nationals Gold Spinner Award and the coveted Corvette Triple Crown Award.
